03 Aug Biohut in Paris
16 Biohut have been installed yesterday in Port de l’Arsenal in Paris, half of them displaying a new design meant to specifically provide spawning grounds for fish to lay their eggs. Ecological monitoring will be lead conjointly by Ecocean and Paris municipality canal department. The excellent visibility allowed our photographer Remy Dubas to take some beautiful pictures of this unknown universe that host many different species: pike, carp, perch, pikeperch and, we have been told, a few large catfish!
The efforts made over the past decades by Paris municipality on water quality allowed the return of a diversified aquatic life in this strongly artificialized ecosystem. By providing new spawning ground and shelters for the fish larvae and juveniles, the Biohut will consolidate and enrich this fascinating urban biodiversity.
