In order to allow certain uses, infrastructures or improvement are developed. They involve, in
particular, the modification of morphological characteristics and hydrology of continental aquatic
environments (lakes, irrigation basins, canals…), causing a high level of artificialization.

LE BIOHUT
Biohut is an artificial habitat that allows to rehabilitate nursery and spawning areas that have been damaged by artificialization. The process helps the juvenile fish, allowing them to reach “refuge size” in order to contribute effectively to local population.
Vegetated rafts
with our partner BIOMATRIX
Vegetated rafts represent green and fresh islands in the heart of the cities or in port areas. The emerged area planted with terrestrial plants attracts a precious fauna (insects, birds…). The roots of these plants and the Biohut underneath increase spawning surfaces and provide nursery functions.
Nesting rafts

The nesting rafts provide nesting surfaces to different species of birds, depending on the granulometry of the substrates used and the vegetation that is put in place. The Biohut installed underneath the rafts promote underwater biodiversity by providing an artificial habitat for the young animals present in the area.

Ecocean’s scientific team travels regularly to carry out ecological monitoring on the BIOHUT observation units installed under the structures. The results allow clients to promote their actions to
users and demonstrate their effectiveness.
To date, more than 45 species of fish and crustaceans have been identified as a result of our monitoring.
