Biohut® is an artificial nursery designed to restore the ecological functions of developed areas.
The life cycle of coastal marine species is based on key steps: after laying in full water, the eggs drift according to currents, become larvae, then post-larves that instinctively join the coasts. To this crucial stage, these young fish require nursery habitat to provide food and protection from predation. Even in an optimal environment, their mortality rate is naturally high (about 90%). However, the scarcity of natural habitats due to the artificialisation of coastal areas may lead to the total disappearance of juveniles in certain areas. Restoring these habitats is therefore a key issue to maintain fish populations and, more broadly, balance of marine ecosystems.
In a context of increasing degradation of marine habitats due to the artificialisation of coastlines and human activities, the need to restore aquatic ecosystems is becoming clear. For several years, national and European initiatives have been aimed at preserving marine biodiversity, with the ambitious objective of the European regulation for nature restoration: restore 20% of degraded habitats by 2030, then all those requiring intervention by 2050.

A true refuge for young aquatic animals from the early stages of life, it simultaneously offers a protection zone (empty modules) and suitable food sources (module filled with complex shell substrate that helps establish a food chain).
Biohut® works in both marine and freshwater environments. Easy to install, it is composed of 100% recycled and recyclable material, made in France and labeled "Origine France Garantie".
Founded on sound scientific evidence, Biohut combines simplicity, efficiency and sustainability.

We support you at every stage of the Biohut project: from installation and module maintenance, including ecological monitoring of local species, through to end-of-life management of the modules.
An initial assessment of the environment can be carried out before installation in order to characterize existing biodiversity and environmental conditions.
The ecological modules are installed by our teams, in compliance with existing infrastructure and site usage.
Regular monitoring is conducted to assess habitat evolution and biodiversity response to the developments carried out.
Maintenance operations are carried out to preserve the ecological functioning and ensure the long-term durability of the modules.
To promote the implemented developments, communication tools and awareness initiatives help strengthen local community engagement with the project.
At the end of the project, the modules are removed and 100% of the materials are recycled.
