Port Vauban Antibes, France

An initial project carried out with Ecocean between 2015 and 2019 helped improve underwater biodiversity in Port Vauban through the installation of 92 Biohut® nurseries in the harbor’s basins. In 2020, Port Vauban installed 56 new nurseries in targeted areas identified as particularly suitable based on the results of the first project.

Partners and funders

  • Port Vauban

In a sensitive natural environment, the Port of Vauban faces the challenge of fully integrating biodiversity into its port operations. The goal is to restore the nursery function within the harbor basins and to firmly embed biodiversity into the port’s strategy. This comprehensive approach combines ecological infrastructure, scientific monitoring, and user awareness.

Project impacts

The project has significantly enhanced the port’s underwater biodiversity by recreating habitats suitable for juvenile fish and restoring an ecological function that had previously been degraded.

  • 148Biohut® installed
  • 26species of vagile fauna
  • 9species of fish
