The Port of Agde and its concessionaire, SODEAL, have played a pioneering role in equipping the port with functional artificial nursery habitats of the Biohut type.

Since 2013, the Port of Cap d'Agde and its concessionaire, SODEAL, have been working alongside Ecocean on an active initiative to restore the marine environment. Several Biohut® nursery modules have been installed on various port structures (pontoons, docks, and breakwaters) to enhance and revitalize biodiversity in the harbor basins. These initiatives are accompanied by communication and outreach efforts designed to raise awareness of the project among local residents, boaters, and tourists in the area.

Between 2013 and 2020, several deployment phases took place: 33 Biohut® units were installed and monitored for two years, followed by 90 Biohut® units over a four-year period, and finally 70 Biohut® units over two years. All of the modules underwent ecological monitoring and regular maintenance. A new project is currently being planned for 2026.
