Extension of the marine renewable energy pier Brest, France

As part of the port development project, Ecocean was commissioned to support the expansion of the pier dedicated to marine renewable energy. The goal of this initiative was to integrate biodiversity-friendly solutions into the evolving port infrastructure through the installation of the Biohut®.

The expansion of the marine renewable energy pier has led to changes in existing marine habitats and disruption of the local ecosystem. To address these environmental challenges, Biohut® was installed as a proactive measure to restore and preserve marine biodiversity. The project was followed by two years of ecological monitoring, conducted in partnership with the local consulting firm IdraBio, to assess the effectiveness of the solutions implemented.

Project impacts

The goal is to create an ecological underwater landscape that is in harmony with the benthic environment.
